MARCH KIDS CARE
OUTREACH:
San Diego Ag in the Classroom (SDAITC) is a local, non-profit corporation started in 1996. Agriculturists began this organization to help children in San Diego schools learn more about plants, soil, water, and animals. Becoming informed helps kids to have a better appreciation and understanding of the importance of farming in the community.

COMMUNITY:
Producing goods like food and clothing through the process of growing plants and raising animals is known as "agriculture". Agriculture provides most of the things we eat, use, and wear in our everyday lives. National Ag Day is celebrated on March 20th, which is the first day of spring. Celebrating agriculture is important for many reasons, but most of all because it helps us recognize the huge part agriculture plays in all we do! The positive impact of supporting local agriculture can be seen in all of the natural and organic products at Jimbo’s. Learn more the next time you shop in our store, and by visiting

FUN FACTS:
March is Women’s History Month, celebrating the contribution of women to events in history and contemporary society. Let us take a look at a few great women who left their mark on America:
- Pocahontas - The Powhatan princess who saved the life of Captain John Smith.
- Susan B. Anthony - Feminist who spent more than 50 years fighting for women’s rights.
- Clara Barton - Founded the American Red Cross.
- Betsy Ross – Designer of the American Flag.
- Amelia Earhart - First woman to fly solo, nonstop across the Atlantic Ocean.
- Harriet Tubman - Leader of the Underground Railroad, which brought slaves to freedom.
- Hattie Wyatt Caraway - First woman elected to U.S. Senate.
National Potato Chip Day on March 14 celebrates everything wonderful about this fun snack food! This tasty root vegetable was first cultivated over 4,000 years ago in South America. Because potatoes are grown underground, they are more susceptible to pesticide residue, so it is important to buy natural and organic versions of this popular favorite.
