Deli Counter Manager

General Purpose:
To successfully manage the Deli Counter Department by achieving financial targets as outlined by the Store Manager. To increase the department's percentage of store sales through outstanding customer service and excellence in merchandising and store presentation. To manage, support, and develop the Deli staff members through clear direction.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
· Manage financial plan: sales, margins, and labor.
· Achieve goals as set forth by the Store Manager in regards to labor budget.
· Perform key human resource functions: hiring, training, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions (warnings/write-ups), terminations, and produce all supporting documentation in a timely manner.
· Organize staff and self to respond to operational needs such as:
· proper scheduling
·keeping a clean and safe work environment
· developing an outstanding merchandising plan which addresses displays, promotions, cleanliness, new products,
resets, design, and contributes to overall appearance of the store.
· Promote a positive atmosphere for shopping and working.
· Execute promotions in a timely manner, maintain signage, and work with the Demo Department to sample product.
· Create and manage timely purchasing functions with respect to proper mix, order cycles, and order books.
· Monitor credits and spoilage through effective organization and follow through.
· Develop ethical and beneficial relationships with Vendors.
· Ensure all products meet quality standards.
· Ensure proper rotation of product, only selling fresh product.
· Maintain abundant appearance of product while minimizing inventory.
· Ensure proper department signage.
· Execute all department price changes, and maintain PLU file in the scale.
· Provide consistent, unsurpassed customer service at all times, including proper response to customer requests, suggestions, and feedback in a timely manner.
· Maximize time spent on the sales floor (a minimum of 75% of scheduled hours).
· Assist other team members and departments in achieving goals of the store.
· Execute all paperwork in a timely manner.
· Hold constructive staff meetings monthly.
· Provide succession training.
· Participate in store's functions as a contributing member of the management team.
· Enforce all store policies.
· Keep self and staff informed on all current information relative to the department.
· Assist in maintaining security of the store, including the enter/exit policy and checking of employee bags, backpacks if necessary.

Qualifications:
· Demonstrated success in maintaining Food Service Operations.
· Intermediate math skills.
· Demonstrated communication, organization, and listening skills.
· Proven leadership and team-building skills.
· Ability to coach, motivate, supervise, and delegate.
· Able to constructively address performance issues.
· Strong negotiating skills.
· Role model customer service skills.
· Willing to work evenings and weekends.
· Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds throughout any assigned shift.
· Complete Food Handler's Certification.
